ATEX-certified air actuators from ContiTech

ContiTech North America’s air actuators with ATEX certification have been added to its product portfolio in the NAFTA region. The new product offering is suitable for use in explosion-prone areas. They can be used particularly in potentially explosive atmospheres containing gases or dust. The products have been certified according to the current European ATEX directives.

The air actuators from ContiTech are available with single-, double-, and triple-convoluted bellows, as well as diameters of 80mm to 950mm. This range of product line allows customers to find the right air actuator for the desired application. Air-spring systems serve as vibration-dampening bearings in heavy systems, while air actuators are used to apply a force to move a given load.

Air springs from ContiTech Air Springs Systems are used for both actuation and vibration isolation in commercial vehicles and agricultural applications. Rolling lobe piston-style air springs and convoluted air bellow actuators are used in axle suspensions on agriculture, construction and mining vehicles. Air springs can also be used in agriculture implements like boom sprayers, seeders and trailers to stabilise the boom, provide suspension or serve as a low cost actuator with high reliability. Sleeve type air springs used in cabin suspensions perform better than conventional steel-springs due to their low natural frequency.
