PPN Power Generating Company has granted Larsen and Toubro (L&T) a contract worth USD $7.76 billion for the construction of a 1080MW gas-based power plant in Tamil Nadu, India. Each of the three units will be 360MW and will be set up as an expansion project where PPN already operates a 330.5 MW combined-cycle power plant. L&T-Sargent and Lundy will be responsible for the integration and detailed engineering of the plant and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan is supplying the advanced class gas turbines and high efficiency steam turbines.
