Veolia Water Technologies, a segment of Veolia specializing in water treatment technologies and services, is undertaking the redevelopment of a brownfield site to establish its inaugural ion exchange regeneration facility in China. This facility, a crucial component of Veolia’s service deionization and mobile water treatment ecosystems, aims to bolster supply chain resilience by rejuvenating and reusing resins utilized in water treatment processes. Catering to industries requiring treated and ultrapure water, such as microelectronics, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, power generation, and food and beverage, this initiative assures a dependable supply while upholding sustainability principles.
The company’s investment of EUR 10 million in this new ion exchange regeneration service center and the expansion of Veolia’s mobile assets in China underscores its commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its mobile fleet across the Asia Pacific region. Situated strategically within the densely populated Changshu industrial zone, the plant will serve as an operation and maintenance hub for all associated assets. Anticipated to commence operations by the second quarter of 2024, the Changshu regeneration facility aligns with China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), which emphasizes the development of a circular economy and resource recycling. Serving as a complement to Veolia’s existing resin regeneration and recycling service center in Penang, Malaysia, this new plant will augment support to customers within the Asia Pacific region.
