AUMA launches explosion-proof PROFOX-X actuators

AUMA has introduced an explosion-proof variant to its popular PROFOX actuator series.

According to Christoph Edelmann, AUMA’s product manager, “The new PROFOX-X actuators extend the advantages of our compact and intelligent PROFOX actuator series to potentially hazardous environments. These versatile actuators are designed to meet the evolving needs of modern plant automation.”

Certified with ATEX and IECEx certifications for the highest gas group IIC T4, including hydrogen, the PROFOX-X series ensures safe operations in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Like the entire PROFOX line, the PROFOX-X series includes multi-turn, part-turn, and linear actuators, providing automation solutions for various valve types within the lower torque and thrust ranges. The compact design of PROFOX-X makes it an ideal choice for confined spaces, such as skid installations.

All PROFOX actuators are engineered for low energy consumption and high efficiency, thereby reducing their carbon footprint.

Manufactured with precision in Germany, these actuators boast a wide temperature range and premium corrosion protection, ensuring reliability and durability even in harsh operating conditions.

Suitable for both OPEN-CLOSE duty and modulating applications, the smart actuators offer adjustable motor speeds for rapid and accurate positioning. Additionally, features like soft start and soft stop functionalities contribute to extended valve lifespan.

Facilitating seamless integration into host systems, PROFOX actuators support fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet communication protocols. Moreover, their embedded data logging capability complements AUMA’s digital ecosystem, CORALINK, enabling advanced diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

Operating PROFOX actuators is made simple and convenient through a user-friendly app, streamlining installation and commissioning processes. The inclusion of FOX-EYE, a centrally placed LED, along with a position indicator on the housing, ensures easy monitoring of actuator status, even from a distance.
