ClydeUnion Pumps named company of the year

ClydeUnion Pumps, a Celeros Flow Technology brand, has been named Company of the Year at the Scottish Engineering Awards 2024. The award recognises the contribution that ClydeUnion Pumps has made to the Scottish engineering sector and its continued commitment to raising standards in the industry.

ClydeUnion Pumps has a long history in Glasgow and can trace its origins back more than 135 years, via the North Sea oil and gas boom to shipbuilding on the Clyde. It brings together the heritage of Weir Pumps and Union Pumps, as well as other respected pump technologies like Guinard, WH Allen, and Mather & Platt. Today, its flow control solutions are increasingly used in renewable energy and nuclear power generation, which present new technical challenges as well as new opportunities for growth.

In 2023, owner Celeros Flow Technology announced a significant long-term investment in the site at Cathcart, with a vision to establish a stable, sustainable, and future-proof plan to secure the long-term future of ClydeUnion Pumps in Glasgow and on the global stage. Their vision for the site included updating and expanding the manufacturing capabilities so that ClydeUnion Pumps could compete for even bigger projects, with the ultimate aim of expanding to form a Scottish Centre of Excellence.

The Scottish Engineering Company of the Year accolade recognises this level of investment in the Scottish economy and local job creation, as well as the company’s commitment to securing a more sustainable future.
