The company completely modernized its HVAC system by integrating Belimo’s new advanced butterfly valve with the new JR actuator, which improved the system’s performance as well as its energy efficiency.
The intervention was carried out in a ten-story commercial building, with approximately 250 employees. The challenge was to retrofit the existing HVAC system while maintaining the day-to-day operations of the business. This meant that the entire modernization had to be completed in just one weekend.
To achieve this, the project decided to use three 6-inch, 2-way butterfly valves with the JR actuators, two 6-inch and 3-way butterfly valves with PR actuators, along with temperature sensors and stainless steel dip wells.
Available in 4″, 5″ and 6″ sizes (DN 100 – 150), these actuators offer adjustable run times that can be set between 20 and 120 seconds. This ensures that actuators can be precisely adjusted to meet specific application requirements, thereby reducing the risk of water hammer and improving process control. Suitable for mixing and diverting applications, the valves default to an equal percentage flow characteristic but can be configured for linear control using the Belimo Assistant app.
The valves can be mounted in any orientation without a designated flow direction, making them ideal for opening/closing, changing, or controlling applications. Meanwhile, the JR features the new M600 microchip, which incorporates multiple patented technologies and improved computing power. The series incorporates Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and also supports protocols such as BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU.
