MSS publishes revised standard for spot facing of flanges

The Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) of the Valve and Fittings Industry announces that SP-9-2024, Spot Facing for Bronze, Iron, and Steel Flanges has been revised and published by MSS.

This MSS Standard Practice applies to the spot facing for U.S. customary (inch-series) bolting of pipe flanges in bronze, gray iron, ductile iron, or steel when casting integral with valves and fittings, as well as the companion flanges when so required by the standard for the product.

This Standard Practice also applies to the spot facing for SI (metric) bolting used in bolted joints not covered by the referenced flange standards herein.

SP-9 continues to be maintained under the consensus of MSS Technical Committees 102, Iron Flanges & Flanged Fittings (primary), 110, Steel Flanges & Flanged Fittings, and 201, Non-Ferrous Fittings and Flanges (secondary).
