Bespoke Valves for Duqm Port construction project

T-T Flow has recently supplied their largest-ever order of valves for a vital government project in Oman. This is part of a GBP 110M (USD 140M) infrastructure phase of the Duqm Port construction project, a project to build infrastructure facilities for a government berth at the strategically important port.

The 980-meter-long government berth is the first integrated berth of its kind, exclusively for government agencies. It is one of the most important security facilities at Duqm Port and will provide readiness to manage logistics operations, the security aspect of the port, and the entire special economic zone. This project has involved the construction of buildings, roads, and facilities to operate the governmental berth, with requirements for the execution of potable water, sewer networks, drainage of surface water, and water tanks.

As part of this project, T-T Flow has provided 140 precision machined valves, including gate valves, swing check valves, air valves, and dismantling joints. These range from 100mm to 600mm and have all been supplied in stainless steel, grade CF8M to protect from harsh saltwater conditions and to ensure longevity. A total of 27 of these gate valves were supplied with directly mounted modulating actuators to ensure efficient automatic operation, featuring position transmitters to control the operation of the valve and an enhanced paint finish for the arduous saltwater environment the valves are intended for. Prior to dispatch, each valve has been tested at T-T Pumps head office, to ensure each valve can withstand the conditions and provide the appropriate water flow control for the application.

These valves will play a crucial role in providing suitable groundwater drainage and water flow control as and when required. The valves will be imperative to ensure that drainage and sewage water are moved correctly and safely. The air valves will ensure there are no water hammer issues or vacuum formations in the pipeline, and the clean water valves will provide suitable clean water management in the system.
