Rotork has added multiport selector valve (MSV) control capability to its range of intelligent electric IQ3 Pro actuators.
These new ‘multiport’ actuators use data from Rotork’s patented high-resolution absolute encoder to deliver highly accurate bi-directional rotary MSV control and eliminate potential conversion errors.
This option provides accurate port positioning on MSVs. A typical application combines the output from several oil and gas wellheads. The MSV allows the plant to select one wellhead to be diverted for measurement and/or testing while the remaining wellheads are directed to a main outlet.
Multiport control integration in the IQ3 Pro range delivers enhanced precision, reliability, and connectivity to demanding applications such as chemical processing, oil and gas production, water treatment, and pharmaceutical manufacturing, where precise and efficient management of fluid pathways is critical.
Traditional production manifolds are often expensive, complex, and challenging to maintain. Utilising an MSV instead of multiple actuated valves offers numerous benefits, including reducing the number of automation systems, resulting in smaller and lighter skids that are also more reliable. This approach leads to overall lower costs associated with installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and ownership.
This feature underscores Rotork’s commitment to delivering reliable, intelligent control and monitoring, as well as data logging for all types of valve actuation in arduous and hazardous environments.
