The KSB Group’s Luxembourg-based SISTO Armaturen S.A. has received an order for about 2000 valves from a global pharmaceutical company.
The valves are intended for a newly built large-scale production plant in Germany, where the customer produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) as well as intermediate products. The new building project is an important step for the company in extending its capacities for API production.
Special requirements regarding process reliability and emission control were specified for the valves. Compliance with the German Technical Guidelines on Air Quality (TA-Luft 12.2021) has to be ensured, and all wetted components have to conform to FDA standards. Decisive aspects for winning the order were the specification-compliant design of the products and their high availability for delivery.
The lion’s share of the order is made up of diaphragm valves of the type SISTO-20 with a two-piece TFM/EPDM diaphragm and a FDA-compliant PTFE lining. Two thirds of the valves are equipped with a compact and directly mounted pneumatic actuator made of stainless steel.
The diaphragm valves of the SISTO-20 type series are ideal for applications involving fine chemicals, as only the inside of the body and the confined diaphragm come into contact with the fluids handled. Thanks to the diaphragm’s rear support, this type series provides a long valve life and outstanding process reliability.
The KSB Group will also supply about 100 manually actuated, metal-seated bellows-type globe valves of the type series ZXLBV. The project, which is expected to be completed in 2025, showcases how SISTO Armaturen S.A. is able to competently realise demanding technical requirements and respond flexibly and efficiently to the customer’s needs.
