Indigenous partnerships supporting industry growth

Inter Pipeline emphasizes that true progress comes from collaboration and respect, exemplified by its long-standing partnership with Alexander Valve & Supply (AVS) and the Alexander First Nation.

AVS, an Alexander First Nation-owned company, has collaborated with Inter Pipeline for several years on pipeline projects and during the construction of the Heartland Petrochemical Complex in Fort Saskatchewan. The partnership represents mutual benefit, shared vision, and lasting impact—demonstrating what can be achieved when industry and community work together.

Over the past few years, Inter Pipeline’s Transportation business has procured over USD 2.25M worth of quality valves for projects at Northern Alberta facilities. The petrochemical business has also partnered with AVS for offsite warehousing of chemical products and critical equipment at the Heartland facility. Leveraging AVS’s surplus warehouse capacity and expertise in supply and materials management, Inter Pipeline benefited from a streamlined, single-source solution, reduced transportation and handling costs, and strengthened its commitment to Indigenous-owned businesses.

Through formal Relationship Agreements, Inter Pipeline provides community development funding supporting local initiatives, including social programs, infrastructure, health, education, and skills training for the Alexander First Nation. This approach underscores a commitment rooted in shared values, trust, and a vision for sustainable progress.
