Ampo Poyam Valves supplies highly engineered forged gate valve

AMPO POYAM VALVES has successfully supplied a set of highly engineered forged gate valves for BASF’s large-scale CR Cluster project, part of the broader BASF (Guandong) Integrated Project located in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China. The valves will be installed in the ethylene unit, one of the core sections of this major petrochemical complex. The end user of the project is BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies, while the EPC contractor is HQC, a long-standing partner of AMPO.

This project represents a remarkable milestone for AMPO, supporting BASF on its first wholly owned petrochemical plant in China, a key global player in the petrochemical industry. The supplied valves are forged gate valves in F91 material, equipped with both pneumatic and electric actuators, and include ever Forged Gate Pressure Seal valves of 24”-1500#class manufactured by AMPO POYAM VALVES — a clear demonstration of the engineering and manufacturing capabilities in special materials and large dimensions for high pressure services.

The BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Project is one of BASF’s most ambitious investments worldwide, with an estimated investment of around USD 10bn. It includes a steam cracker and several downstream plants, which are the central core of the Verbund site. This central steam cracker and associated downstream plants are expected to begin production by the end of 2025. Once fully completed, it will be BASF’s third-largest site globally and its first wholly foreign-owned petrochemical plant in China. The complex is designed as a smart manufacturing benchmark, integrating digitalization, automation, and sustainability principles — including the use of 100% renewable energy and carbon mitigation technologies.
