AMPO POYAM VALVES has successfully supplied highly engineered hypercentric triple offset ball valves for a strategic project at TCO (Tengizchevroil) in Kazakhstan, a leading company in Kazakhstan that produces oil, gas, and associated products that fuel the modern economy. The project involved the replacement of metering station valves installed in critical metering skids, where reliability, accuracy, and long-term performance are essential under severe operating conditions.
As the end user, TCO required valves capable of operating under severe service conditions, including high H₂S content and significant erosion challenges. In addition, easy field maintainability and long-term reliability were essential requirements to minimize operational costs and downtime. To meet these needs, AMPO supported the client during the valve selection process, proposing its Hypercentric triple-offset ball valve technology as the optimal solution for this demanding application. This solution combines a non-contact design with outstanding performance in harsh environments, making it particularly suitable for this type of severe service application.
In total, AMPO supplied 82 Hypercentric ball valves, size 8”, featuring Inconel overlay and equipped with electric actuators. The valves fully comply with the API 6D standard and successfully passed PR2 testing, ensuring their reliability and safety in critical service conditions. A key highlight of the project was the extensive testing programme. The Hypercentric ball valves were tested at TCO’s facilities by a third-party inspector, achieving excellent results. These tests further validated the 6,000-cycle endurance test previously performed at AMPO’s facilities and certified by DNV, reinforcing the robustness and durability of the solution.
