Petrobras begins production at Búzios 6 offshore Brazil

Petrobras has started oil production from the Búzios 6 (P-78) FPSO vessel in the Búzios Field at the pre-salt section of the Santos Basin. It arrived in Brazil in October 2025 from Singapore and is the seventh operational vessel in the region.

The Búzios 6 can produce 180,000 barrels BPD and increase production capacity to approximately 1.15 million BPD. The project will allow for the export of gas to the mainland via interconnection with the ROTA 3 gas pipeline. This will expand Brazil’s gas supply by up to 3 million m³ per day.

The project comprises 13 wells, six producers, and seven injectors. They house smart completion systems that enhance production management. The unit also interconnects with rigid pipelines for gas production, injection, and export, as well as flexible pipelines for service lines.

The Búzios 6 inaugurates a new family of proprietary unit projects, and the platform was conceived through the Basic Reference Project, bringing greater safety and reliability to operations.
