De-sulphurisation plant in Romania

Sidex S.A., Romania has placed a contract with Rautaruukki Engineering, Finland, to supply a coke oven gas de-sulphurisation plant to remove hydrogen sulphide and ammonia from the coke oven gas produced by coke batteries nos. 1-6. The amount of gas to be treated is 70,000 Nm3/h. The contract consists of the modernisation of the existing gas scrubbing and wash water stripping system and supplying of a new Claus sulphur recovery plant, which will produce element sulphur. The project implementation will be carried out in co-operation with a Romanian engineering company. A significant part of the equipment will be manufactured locally. The start-up of the plant is scheduled for August 2002.
