Albchem Industries has just awarded Technip, through its affiliate Krebs-Speichim, an equipment supply contract for a grassroot sodium chlorate production facility to be located near Virden, Manitoba, Canada. Within the framework of this project, Technip will be responsible for supply of key process equipment and start-up assistance. The plant will use Krebs’s highly efficient electrolysers. This CAD 40 million investment will increase Albchem’s production capacity by 40,000 tons per year. The new plant is scheduled for completion in January 2002. – Technip has also won from Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC) a contract for front-end engineering design (FEED) for upgrading the control systems of two NGL trains located at Mesaieed. FEED objectives are to redesign and modernise the process control systems and instrumentation of NGL trains 1 and 2. Technip’s scope of work will also include review/upgrade of Process and Utility P&IDs, design of blast-proof buildings, design of electrical power systems, review/upgrade of telecommunications systems and preparation of scope-of-work for the EPIC contract.
