Vietnam clean energy

Vietnam plans to restructure its energy sector, aiming at meeting the country’s increasing demand for energy in a more ecological and convenient way, local daily Vietnam News has reported. Exploitation of crude oil, clean coal and natural gas, oil refining and electricity generation will be significantly increased over the next 20 years, according to a plan of the National Energy Policy Making Steering Committee, under Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment. The plan will also see the development of solar energy, wind energy, organic energy and nuclear energy. An atomic power plant capable of producing 3000-4000 MW has been considered for construction in the 2010-20 period and small hydro-electricity works are to be constructed in remote rural areas.
