The Queenex group has chosen LG Electrical to manage the engineering for its USD 100 million greenfield duplex board mill. The supplier will also act as project co-ordinator for the scheme. The 250 tonnes-per-day unit will be located in the Mussafah Industrial Area, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Queenex has already made a start on the civil engineering for the site and expects to start building the mill in April. The company has preliminary plans to begin erection of the board machine early next year for start-up in September 2002. The duplex board mill will be the first in the region, according to Queenex. The producer plans to sell the PM’s output to converters in the UAE and other Gulf states.
