Industrial power plant for Finland

Foster Wheeler Corporation has announced that its Finnish subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Energia Oy, has won a turnkey contract from Aanevoima Oy to supply an industrial power plant for Metsa-Serla Aanekoski mills in central Finland. The contract is valued at approximately USD 51 million. Design work on the project is already under way and the plant is scheduled to be completed in October 2002. The new plant will produce process steam and electricity for Metsa-Serla Corporation’s pulp & paper mill, electricity for Noviant CMC Oy’s CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) production facility and district heat for Aaneseudun Energia Oy, a local power company. Foster Wheeler Energia Oy will supply a solid fuel-fired 150 MWth circulating fluidised-bed boiler (CFB) and a 35mw turbine generator. The company will also provide fuel handling, automation and instrumentation, water treatment, cooling systems, steam distribution system, electrification and auxiliaries, and all civil works including foundation. The new CFB boiler will be fuelled primarily by bark, sludge, wood residue, packaging and building waste from the local mills as well as wood and peat. The two existing oil-fired boilers will serve as auxiliary boilers.
