Second power and desalination contract for FCX

FCX Orton, part of the specialist flow control FCX Group, has secured a multi-million dollar contract for a second power and desalination plant, just a few weeks after announcing it had secured a contract for flow control products in the Ras Laffan plant. The company will supply products for the Shuweihat S1 Independent Water and Power Project in Abu Dhabi – the largest of its kind in the country. The USD 1.6 billion Shuweihat S1 project includes a gas-fuelled 1500-MW combined-cycle power plant and a large water desalination facility with a capacity of 100 million imperial gallons per day. The facility will be constructed by a consortium of Siemens AG and Fisia Italimpianti. It will be built on a greenfield site close to Jebel Dhana, 250km west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The desalination plant includes six MSF desalination units, each capable of producing 16.7 million Imperial gallons of water per day.
FCX Orton products which will be utilised include triple eccentric metal-seated valves in sizes ranging from ND 64″ to ND 104″, double eccentric soft seated valves from ND 4″ to ND 96″ and non-return butterfly valves from ND 32″ to ND 52″ sizes. All of the FCX Orton
products specified are manufactured in ductile iron, carbon steel and exotic alloys.
