ABB awarded Jilin ethylbenzene plant expansion

ABB has been awarded an ethylbenzene (EB) plant expansion by Jilin Chemical Industrial Co., China. The original EB plant, which is located in Jilin City and came on-stream in 1998, was designed by ABB Lummus Global based on proprietary Lummus/UOP liquid phase EBOne technology. The capacity of the plant will be expanded from 105,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) to 160,000 MTA of EB utilising recent improvements in the EBOne technology. The basic engineering of the plant revamp will be executed in close co-operation between ABB Lummus Global and Jilin Design Institute. The revamped plant is expected to go on-stream in the fall of 2001.
