BJ Services Company announced that Malcolm Gray-Stephens has been promoted to Technical Services Manager – Middle East & Asia Pacific Region for BJ Tubular Services. Gray-Stephens, who joined the company in 1992 as an engineer in Aberdeen, oversees all torque-turn operations in the region, as well as the division’s workshop in Singapore. He controls all activities related to assets employed throughout the MEAP, including BJ Tubular Services’ selection of tongs, power units and handling equipment. This includes formulating equipment modification and development plans, from financial considerations to system design specifications and tendering, to final approval of system specifications. In addition to designing division bases for new countries within the MEAP region, Gray-Stephens is also responsible for carrying out all aspects of the Quality Assurance program for ISO 9001, environmental accreditation leading to ISO 14001.
Before joining BJ Tubular Services, Gray-Stephens was employed by Lucas Automotive in Wales for four years, and worked in a variety of engineering roles, most recently as a development engineer. Gray-Stephens, 35, holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University in England. He is an associate member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in the United Kingdom. Originally from Argyll, Scotland, Gray-Stephens is based at the BJ Tubular Services MEAP base in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and reports to Neil Gordon, General Manager for BJ Tubular Services.
