FCX Orton wins Qatar contract

FCX Orton, part of the specialist flow control FCX Group, has secured a multi-million dollar contract to supply a variety of flow control products for the Ras Laffan power and desalination plant project in Qatar. The contract was signed with Fisia Italimpianti for the A.E.S. Oasis Energy Inc. at the Ras Laffan Industrial Area in Qatar. The desalination plant is composed of four MSF Desalination Units capable of producing 10 million Imperial gallons of water per day. The first phase of the power supply project is expected to be completed by
March 2003 with desalinated water being produced by April 2004. Capacity for first phase will be 750 MW and 40 million imperial gallons of water per day. FCX Orton will supply a variety of high performance flow control products for the project, including triple eccentric metal-seated valves in sizes ranging from ND 20″ to ND 60″, rubber lined valves (ND 60″),
double eccentric soft seated valves from ND 4″ to ND 80″ and non-return butterfly valves in ND 24″ and ND 32″ sizes.
Any flow control products utilised in the desalination plant require high performance in corrosive environments and indeed all of the FCX Orton products specified are manufactured in ductile iron, carbon steel and exotic alloys.
