Crosby has introduced a Low Pressure Steel Safety Valve (Style HL) for steam service applications. The HL is a full nozzle design safety valve ideal for commercial-industrial boilers, heat recovery steam generators, waste heat boilers, package boilers and deaerators. It meets the requirements of Section I of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code. The HL product has been designed with the end user in mind. The product offers industry standard centre-to-face dimensions so that original equipment manufacturers and end-use customers do not need to modify existing installations (inlet and discharge piping) to upgrade to the new HL valve. The HL uses a “full nozzle” design that is threaded into the valve body. The nozzle is simple to remove, less expensive and less time consuming to repair. Spanner wrench slots facilitate easy removal. Body-to-Bonnet bolting holds the guide in place. This simple improvement eliminates the age-old industry problem of the Guide-to-Body threads corroding in service requiring major repairs or costly replacement parts. A “flexible” disc design, with field-proven performance in Crosby H Series high-pressure steam safety valves results in improved seat tightness. The HL safety valve uses a specially designed cover and overlap collar that forms a unique back pressure chamber for improved blowdown performance. Additionally, this design feature prevents steam from heating the spring, which might affect set pressure.
