FCX Orton, the Italian valve specialist, has supplied more than 100 valves ranging from 3″ up to 82″ for the Ras Laffan Train 3 LNG plant in Qatar. The order for the massive plant was secured via a frame agreement with CMS&A (a joint venture between Chiyoda, Mitsui and Snamprogetti). The valves are FCX Orton’s Triple Eccentric Metal Seated Design MV Series, with body and disc in aluminium bronze and the Monel laminated seal ring. CMS&A selected this design for its high-performance sea water application and reduced maintenance performance, with practically no need to change the sealing elements during the entire time of the plant life.
