Metso Automation will supply an extensive process automation and
field control solution to the new recovery line at the Wisaforest
kraft pulp mill in Pietarsaari, Finland. The order, with the total
value of over 10 million euros, was placed by UPM-Kymmene Oy and
Wisapower Oy. The new recovery line is expected to start the
production in spring 2004. The delivery will include the automation and information management systems for the new recovery line as well as a quality management
system, process optimization controls and valves. Metso Automation
will also supply an extensive automation solution upgrade and
extension for the existing fiber line. The order is a part of UPM-Kymmene’s large investment project at the Wisaforest Pietarsaari plant. With the new recovery line, the plant’s
annual production capacity will increase from 620,000 tonnes to
800,000 tons.
