Flowserve wins Chinese order

UK company Flowserve Flow Control (formerly Invensys Flow Control) has been awarded a contract to supply 84 electrically operated ball valves fitted with Fluorofill seats to the Harbin Boiler Co. Ltd (HBC) of China. HBC is the largest utilities boiler manufacturer in China, occupying sites totalling 760,000 square metres and making over 3900 products. The firm’s main products are 300 mW and 600 mW utilities boilers. Until now it has produced boilers with a total capacity of 60,000 mW which represents 35% of all thermal units manufactured in China. More than 200 power plants in China have been equipped with boilers made by HBC and units have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions outside China. Recently HBC has developed large-capacity Circulation Fluidised Bed (CFB) boilers using the latest technology, including valve control of the fuel system. Three of these boilers, with capacities of 135 mW each, are to be installed in Xinxiang and Kaifeng City in the Henan Province of China. As there is no instrument air supply on the sites, the valves will have to be electrically operated, and due to the fast-acting operation of the fuel system they will have to be closed within three seconds.
