The EHA intelligent electric hydrostatic actuator combines an integral linear and pressure transducer and is controlled by a variable frequency drive. M-mac’s new EHA intelligent electric hydrostatic actuator combines an integral linear and pressure transducer and controlled by a variable frequency drive. This combination makes a selective position-force-speed profile in a stand-alone package without an external PLC. The actuator is simply connected to an electrical power source. M-mac self contained EHAs achieve accurate position control without sensitive proportional or servo valves. Control of the actuator is achieved by direct drive between a high-efficiency bidirectional pump and a standard reversing variable frequency motor.
Driving the motor in a CW or CCW direction extends or retracts the actuator at infinitely variable speeds within the operating range of the motor. There are no directional solenoid valves to switch and stopping and starting the actuator in any position is achieved simply by stopping and starting the motor. Electrical power is consumed only when the motor is running, when the actuator is extending or retracting. The actuator, when stopped in any position, is solidly locked. It can hold any load within the relief stage setting of the integral load holding valve. M-mac EHAs have the universal mounting features of electromechanical actuators combined with the high force capacity of any hydraulic cylinder. They are inherently lubricated and completely sealed, therefore require virtually no maintenance. Typical applications include precise modulation of flue dampeners in thermal energy applications, modulated control of large gate and globe valves, slide gates for bulk materials handling, raising and lowering security barriers and are ideally suited in applications where accurate control of position is required.
