FCX Truflo Marine has secured a contract to supply flow control systems and valves used in the compressed air systems of the Indian Navy’s next generation of navy hardware – its P17 Talwar class frigates. The project will last three years and will see the company’s products and solutions utilised on the second batch of the Talwar class frigates. The first three have been built in Russia and extensive trials and testing were carried out before the first ship was delivered to the Indian navy in 2002. FCX Truflo Marine valves and flow control solutions will be used in the control of compressed air systems used on the vessels for fire fighting, bottle filling, in the helicopter traversing process and in major machinery in the ship including its gas turbine, gearbox, pneumatic valves and emergency generator. The company has a strong pedigree in the design and development of advanced “air stations” for marine vessels. The frigates will be built by Mazagon Dock in Mumbai – India’s biggest shipyard – which is used for constructing naval submarines and surface ships, commercial vessels and offshore equipment.
