Kurvers wins Kazakh contract

Kurvers Piping has won a contract from KazakhOil Aktobe (Kazakhstan) for the supply of the first 50 electro-hydraulic actuated on/off ball valves for the infield gathering project of the Alibekmola Onshore Oilfield Plant located in Mugodzhay district of the Aktyubinsk Oblast in Kazakhstan. KBR (Kellogg Brown & Root) Production Services, a Halliburton company, is the detail design contractor working for KOA on this project. The valves, produced in Italy, will be fitted with quarter-turn flame-proof self-contained electro-hydraulic actuators manufactured by Rotork Skilmatic UK and will be installed in zone 1 hazardous environment for the production of well isolation with a mix of live crude oil and gas with H2S corrosive compounds at the local cold temperature of -35 degrees C with high operating pressure of 135 bar. The valves will be installed on wellheads: two valves per each wellhead, one horizontal mounted and one vertical mounted. A total of 110 weelheads will be needed on the plant. The contract also includes commissioning and supervising the installation as well as training Kurvers Piping and Rotork Skilmatic personnel in the use of the actuators.
