Butterfly valves for diesel engines

Chalwyn has launched a series of new electronically controlled safety shutdown systems for diesel engines operating in hazardous areas where combustible gas or vapours may occur. The Chalwyn “X” valve family of electrical, air pressure, oil pressure or manually actuated air intake shutdown valves has been extended to now include 8in bore options and manually reset models with air pressure shutdown. Optional hose adaptors have been introduced to cover the new 8in version. In order to meet the EN1834-1:2000 requirement for automatic and simultaneous air intake and fuel shutdown if engine overspeed occurs, an automatic fuel shutdown valve has been added to the Chalwyn product range. This is used in combination with an air intake shutdown valve selected from the Chalwyn range and includes a manual reset facility. All the advantages of this lightweight, corrosion proof range of slim butterfly valves are retained on these new models. In operation these shutdown systems shut down the engine by automatically closing both the air intake and fuel valves on detection of low engine oil pressure, high temperature or engine over-speed. Fully certified ATEX compliant versions of this new Chalwyn product range are available.
