The FPS200 is the latest fieldbus power supply conditioning system from Hawke, and it is now fully approved by the Fieldbus Foundation in Austin, TX. Fieldbus power supplies require “conditioning” so that the traditional 24V bulk DC power supply does not interfere with the 31.25kHz fieldbus communications signal. This conditioning is usually provided by external power conditioners, together with the necessary segment/segment DC isolation. However, should this conditioning module fail, the entire segment is lost, hence the necessity in many applications to provide redundant power conditioning. The Hawke FPS200 is a DIN-rail mounting carrier which can drive up to 2- or 4-segments, depending on model, and each carrier can support any mix of simplex or duplex (redundant) conditioning modules as required. Each segment is provided with 350mA of fieldbus-conditioned power from one or two external DC supplies, and each carrier also has on-board alarm monitoring for each segment, each power feed and each module. The FPS200 system is easily used with Hawke field-mounting Device Couplers and together they make the implementation of fieldbus very straight-forward indeed.
