OMB Valves S.P.A has announced the award of the supply agreement for forged steel valves for the ABB-TEC JV managed project for the ethylene cracker at Shell Singapore. The contract covers the supply of all types of forged steel valves in full accordance to Shell specifications. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2009 by Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd (SEPL) and will be located on Bukom Island, Singapore. The cracker will be built by a joint-venture between Swiss-based ABB Lummus Global and Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corp. of Japan. The plant, which will be one of the biggest in Asia with a possible price tag of USD 1 billion, will use light oil product naphtha to make petrochemical building blocks to meet growing regional demand.
