Andritz VA Tech Hydro has been awarded by AES Sonel of Cameroon to refurbish the Edéa I and Songloulou hydropower plants. The contract value totals more than EUR 40 million. At Edéa I, Andritz VA Tech Hydro will replace three turbine-generator sets including their mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, unit transformers, electrical balance of plant, the intakes, draft tubes and cranes as well as automation and control systems. Units 1 to 3 at Edéa 1 were delivered by Andritz VA Tech Hydro between 1949 and 1955 and will each be upgraded from 35.3MW to 49.2MW. The refurbishment works are scheduled to be completed by 2011.
