The Lee Company has launched a new Quiet Operation High Density Interface (HDI) 3-way solenoid valve that reduces actuation noise by 50%. A typical solenoid valve has an inherent clicking sound when energized, which is caused by the metal-to-metal contact of the moving armature and stationary core, but this new quiet operation design uses “whisper” technology to provide a sound level measurement of less than 37 dBA when measured at a distance of 24 inches and a valve cycle frequency of 10 Hz. Weighing just 4.5g, the valve delivers increased flow capacity while helping engineers and OEM designers to meet the familiar objectives of a smaller size, a lighter weight and greater efficiency. It is available in either plug-in or face-mount versions, and has a choice of configurations – two-way normally closed and two-way normally open – the valves offer a flow capacity of up to 800Lohms (19SLPM at 50psid; CV=0.022). he valves have an operating pressure range of VAC – 50psig (0-50psid) and an operating temperature range of 40F up to 120F.
