Repack-S announces OSIS

High-performance, composite sealing specialist, Repack-S has announced OSIS, an innovative polyurethane (PU) rubber On-Site Injection System, to join spliced seals in large hydropower valve equipment. The ultra-portable, OSIS system ensures a completely homogeneous, high integrity sealing joint during equipment maintenance, avoiding the loss in mechanical strength experienced with other seal joining techniques.
Hydropower turbines and ancillary equipment are fitted with large seals often exceeding 2,000mm in diameter when newly built. To avoid lengthy and costly dismantling operations, these are usually replaced by split seals at the first scheduled maintenance interval.
Current seal joining techniques suffer from various shortcomings, with associated loss in mechanical strength compared with the original seal. The Repack-S OSIS system ensures a much stronger seal joint. It uses advanced polyurethane compounds, precise injection metering and real-time control of the moulding parameters to achieve a homogeneous joint, as well as a perfectly continuous seal profile.
Repack-S’s OSIS on-site polymer injection system is patented and includes the world’s smallest, PLC-controlled injection press (<2kg) for maximum portability, ensuring seal joints with the highest possible mechanical integrity.
Based in Cuisery, southern France, Repack-S specialises in the design and manufacture of composite seals and self-lubricated guiding systems for demanding applications, such as large offset butterfly or spherical valves, Wicket gate assemblies and Kaplan or Bulb turbine runner blades.
The company offers precision-machined seals – without any size restriction – with the highest wear (abrasion) resistance and lowest induced drag torque in high-eccentricity cycling or rotary applications. Key markets include power hydraulics and large scale engineering systems in the oil and gas, hydroelectric and renewable energy sectors.
