SIPOS Aktorik will supply electric actuators to Jabal Omar development for a district-cooling scheme. The major residential and commercial centre located close to the Grand Holy masjid in Makkah (Mecca) will accommodate 40,000 people. The project is managed by Saudi Tabreed.
SIPOS’ actuation technology will aid the automation processes supplying chilled water to meet the cooling demands of the entire scheme. This contract to supply variable speed actuators is the latest in a series of district cooling and heating contracts that confirm SIPOS’ expertise in supporting specialist valve-control installations.
The Jabal Omar development will be constructed in five stages, with the initial district cooling installation meeting the requirements of the first two build phases. The net chilled water production capacity in phase one will be 25,000 TR, capable of providing cooling to buildings with a demand load of 35,955 TR. The ultimate net chilled water production capacity will increase to 55,000 TR.
