SIPOS awarded repeat order for Silopi

After receiving the order to supply electric actuators to the first Silopi power plant unit in Turkey, SIPOS Aktorik has been awarded the actuation contract for the second phase of the scheme. Three further units, which are predicted to generate 135 MW of thermal power, are being planned. SIPOS’ electric actuators are adopted throughout the Silopi plant.

Representing an investment of USD 120M on a turnkey basis, Silopi is projected to generate 972M kWh per year. As the first thermal power plant using asphaltite as its fuel, the plant is the private sector’s biggest project in Turkey’s south-eastern Anatolia region. The power plant uses the fluidised bed boiler technology to exploit a local fuel in an environment-friendly and efficient way, making a significant contribution towards meeting Turkey’s electricity supply requirements.

The contract supports SIPOS’ growing presence in Turkey and extends the company’s portfolio of energy industry installations, which includes work for five of the world’s largest nuclear power plants. SIPOS’ local agent for Turkey, Termik Enerji provided expertise, which helped to secure the contract, and the company supports commissioning and service activities at Silopi.
