DNV GL and UAE MOE automates energy system

DNV GL, the global resource of independent energy experts and certification body, is to design and develop a database and energy automation system to help the UAE Ministry of Energy collect information on energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from various sectors and sources across the UAE’s seven emirates.

In 2010, the UAE announced its UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union in 2021.DNV GL’s automated system intends to allow the UAE to create baselines on energy use, in order to determine and identify trends and patterns of energy consumption and levels of greenhouse gas emissions over a number of years.

With no previous automated method in place to collect energy information, DNV GL will work closely with stakeholders across the UAE by developing a new set of templates that will be consolidated and simplified, enabling stakeholders to upload the collected data onto the system automatically where it is easily accessible to all stakeholders in the project.
This database will aid UAE to report its energy consumption and GHG emissions to various international organisations.
