The business relationship between Weir Flow Control France and the French electric utility company EDF dates back over 30 years. Now, Weir Flow Control France has secured a contract to replace pneumatic controls for Main Steam Isolation Valves (MISVs) across 28 EDF reactors. The scope of the contract covers design, prototyping, testing and supply of 84 new items, as well as on-site installation, supervision and commissioning of the new equipment.
The programme will last seven years and will ensure the future safety and integrity of flow control equipment throughout the enhanced operational lifetime of EDF’s reactors. Weir’s innovative solution incorporates a forged block design for the panels and full integration with MSIVs on site, which offers optimal reliability and equipment lifetime while enabling ease of maintenance.
Weir France has been operating a dedicated training centre for more than 20 years to help its customers understand its valves and their operations. With Weir valves in use in all of EDF’s nuclear reactors across France, the company has been involved in the training programme throughout that time.
