Kitaura ball valve in China-based nuclear plant

Kitaura valve (China) Co., Ltd. has been commissioned by a nuclear plant in China to supply a corrosion resistant zirconium 2500LB 36”emergency shut-off valve, which can withstand a boiling point of 4377 degrees C. The Kitaura zirconium ball valve offers high temperature and good corrosion resistance, processability, and low thermal neutron absorption. These properties make zirconium alloy an important structural material for nuclear reactors as it can withstand alkali and molten alkali in various concentrations.

The Kitaura ball valve is provided in standards HG, GB, JB, API, ANSI, ISO, BS, DIN, NF. Zirconium is one of the high melting metals and is not soluble in hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia.

The surface of zirconium is similar to steel and is covered by a dense oxide layer at normal temperature, but has a metallic luster. Zirconium can absorb large amounts of oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and other gases when heated, and can be used as a hydrogen storage material.
