AVK Holding Southern Africa has acquired the assets, IP and brand name of Gunric Valves. AVK will continue to operate the existing facility at Robertville, Florida, Johannesburg. This acquisition represents a substantial inward investment by one of the well-known valve manufacturers. This attests to the efficacy of the DTI policy aimed at re-industrialising South Africa to meet the requirements of its state owned enterprises and infrastructure spend by providing large volumes of world-class, competitively priced valves locally, defraying concerns over quality, capacity and delivery time.
AVK Holding South Africa Chairman, Paul Hubbard confirmed that the addition of product programme including triple offset metal seated butterfly and tilting disc check valves will strengthen the value of their core water business, and help extend their industrial valve offering.
Gunric products are supplied to many of South Africa’s major power stations, petrochemical and water infrastructure projects.
AVK is now in the process of expanding its productive capacity in support of the DTI’s policies to meet the needs of South Africa’s state owned enterprises for local content procurement.
