Goetze products conform to SIL2 & 3 standards

Today, plant operators are seeking to ensure the complete integration of safety instrumented functions (SIF) in the design of their plants. In process engineering, this measure can be particularly helpful in avoiding serious damage or cost-intensive downtimes.

Safety instrumented functions consist of many individual safety functions that are to be realised, for example, by actuators, control valves, emergency-off switches, and so on. These functions are electrically actuated and often monitored by a programmable controller. With the SIL (Safety Integrity Level) approach, the individual components are assessed in terms of their probability of failure.

A safety integrity level between 1 and 4 is specified in accordance with the assessment result – similar to the assignment of zones in explosives protection (ATEX).

Goetze had its valves analysed on the basis of SIL. The assessment of valves was carried out by the independent testing agency and certification organisation Exida. It was confirmed that Goetze products conform to SIL2 and SIL3 standards.
