The Alco Valves Group Ltd has confirmed that its XC range of double block and bleed valves is now PR-2 qualified as per API-6A Appendix F to 1200 Cycles.
The API 6A Appendix F PR-2 qualification ensures that the Alco XC range of double block and bleed valve is suitable for supercritical applications.
API-6A is a specification for Wellhead and Christmas Tree Equipment. Appendix F, PR-2 is a performance verification test of the valve and components within the valve. The PR-2 test under Appendix F ensures that the components within the valve are suitable for high and low temperatures whilst dynamically cycling under various pressure conditions.
The XC DBB valve was tested to API 6A Appendix F PR-2 over 1200 cycles at full differential from open to close using water for the hydrostatic test. The valve was cycled over 20 times from open to close at plus 121oC and 20 times from open to close at -29oC in accordance with temperature classification P and U of the API-6A standard. The high and low-temperature cycle test was completed using nitrogen to ensure the integrity of the seals and mechanical components. All cycle testing was achieved at class 2500lbs (6,250 psi).
