The technology group Wärtsilä and AGL Energy Limited, one of Australia’s leading integrated energy companies, have signed the contract for a new 211 MW power plant. The deal for the new facility, known as the Barker Inlet Power Station located on Torrens Island near Adelaide, was earlier announced by Wärtsilä on February 5.
The Notice to Proceed (NTP) has been issued and project execution work has begun. Wärtsilä is delivering the plant on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.
The equipment is scheduled to be delivered towards the end of this year and the new plant is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2019.
