WVC USA hosts MSIV training

Weir Valves & Controls USA has recently hosted a training on Atwood & Morrill™ Main Steam Isolation Valves for key customers and service crews

The training featured one day of presentations and one day of hands-on training where the attendees got a chance to disassemble and assemble a valve at its factory in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

Weir Valves & Controls USA Inc. is rooted in the history of Nuclear Power in the United States. Its heritage brand, Atwood & Morrill™, developed safety valves for the United States Navy in 1940. This led to the development of Main Steam Isolation Valves for use in BWR & PWR Nuclear plants.

The first MSIV valves were ordered by General Electric Co. from Atwood & Morrill™ in 1965 for a BWR installation in Tarapur, India. This order was closely followed by similar valves for other North American nuclear plants, these have all continued successively to the present day.

To date, Weir Valves & Controls USA Inc. has an installed base of over 270 A&M Main Steam Isolation Valves at 38 nuclear plants worldwide.
