Haltermann installs component for hydrogenation unit

Haltermann Carless, a company of HCS Group and a supplier of high-value hydrocarbon solutions, has completed the installation of the main components at the new hydrogenation plant in Speyer with the installation of a 70 MT tank container.
The 320m3 tank will collect intermediate products, which will be fed back into the hydrogenation process in a further stage and then processed into products ready for sale. This will maximise the yield of valuable products from the raw materials and optimise the site’s recycling management.
The 20-meter long and 5-meter diameter component was placed on a foundation with two mobile cranes and will be later covered with sand and planted over.
The hydrogenation plant will be put into operation mid-2020. Three types of raw materials will be processed in the new hydrogenation plant: pentanes, which are used as blowing agents in insulation materials, naphtha, which is roughly equivalent to crude gasoline, and gas oil, which is very similar to diesel fuel.
