The 29th Achema International Exhibition-Congress on chemical engineering, environmental protection and biotechnology will take place from 11-15 May 2009 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. So by now, preparations for Achema 2009 are already in full swing. The recent dispatch of the updated application documents is marking the official starting signal for exhibitors. Achema’s Special Show regularly highlights an innovative topic within the general Achema spectrum. For the upcoming Achema this “show inside the show” is dedicated to renewable resources and energy, with an even focus on contributions both from chemistry as well as from biotechnology. This covers the whole field from industrial (“white”) biotechnology to chemical and thermal processes, from biorefineries, plants for the production of biofuels or biogas, to the processing of biogenous products. It furthermore includes high-performance crops, photovoltaics and solar chemical processes, chemical energy storage, biocomposites and biopolymers. The Special Show brings together quite diverse technological approaches aiming jointly at a sustainable use of energy and resources, and will give proof of the decisive role our industry plays in this field.
