AchemAsia 2010 concludes

The 8th AchemAsia exhibition exhibited fruitful discussions, a very high quality of visitors, and a positive atmosphere. In his welcoming address, Professor Cao Xianghong, Chairman of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC), underlined the importance of international exchange for the Chinese process industry especially this year when the impact of the financial crisis was still perceptible in China, too.

In the mid- and long-term it would be essential to prepare for the shift of the resource base that would become necessary in the face of dwindling oil reserves. Professor Cao also gave an account of the challenges caused by limited water resources especially for coal conversion in regions with rich deposits. With 190 exhibitors, China accounted for the largest group, followed by Germany (118), France (23) and the US (11).

The exhibitors also commended the internationality of the visitors. Overall, the exhibition and congress attracted 12,453 visitors to the new China National Convention Center. Among the 89 lectures, the plenary lectures and the sessions on water treatment, clean energy and biorefinieries as well as the exhibitors’ presentations were met with especially high interest. The next Achema will take place from 18th-22nd June, 2012 in Frankfurt, Germany. The next AchemAsia opens in spring 2013 in Beijing.
