Starting this summer, the Aker Klyde Valve will be produced by Aker Valves – a new Norwegian company owned by Aker Stord and Aker Oil & Gas.The Aker Klyde double block valve represent a new generation of blockvalves. One such valve can replace two conventional bock valves in a double block and bleed arrangement, as well as plug, orbit, gate and double expanding gate valves. In more than a year several 4″ 100 bar Aker Klyde valves have been operating on the Statoil-platforms Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C. Both are located in areas where valves usually don’t last for more than a few months. The Aker Klyde valves on these two platforms are still tight. Featuring a radical wedging ball, the Aker Klyde valve offers true double block and bleed functionality. The valve is maintenance free, has extended life time and a low life cycle cost.
